Electronics giant Samsung yesterday launched a new ebook reader which, although currently only available in South Korea, could find sits way to the UK and US.
The English-language Korea Herald quotes Samsung Electronics VP Lew Jae-young as saying the firm “seek to become a bigger player than Amazon or Sony in the e-book market.”
Samsung’s reader is smaller than rivals, featuring a screen of just 5″. Many reports have focused on the lack of wi-fi or web connectivity given the stated aim of rivalling Amazon, however none of the readers recently released into the UK offer web connectivity and it’s as yet too early to know if this is a feature consumers seek.
