An OFCOM study suggests just 2 per cent of UK homes have an eBook reader
According to the latest Communications Market Report [download from OFCOM's website], which covers the first quarter of 2010, just 2% of adults told the UK communications regulator that they or someone in their household had access to an eReader, with take-up more common among men and younger readers.
OFCOM’s research also reveals that despite Apple’s iPad regularly being touted as one of devices most likely to significantly increase the numbers of people reading electronic books, this didn’t make the top five reasons given for thinking of buying the device.
The report cautions this finding may “reflect some consumers’ lack of familiarity with e-books”
