eBook self-publishing community Wattpad will soon become available to Indian mobile operator Bharti Airtel’s 110 million subscriber base.

“India has always been one of the most important countries for Wattpad’s ebook service,” said Allen Lau, CEO and Co-founder of Wattpad. “Our launch on Bharti Airtel, the largest mobile operator in India, means more people can now access our content more easily.”

Wattpad say being available on mobile handsets is “a strong catalyst” for the service’s growth rate in much of the world.

Reader applications for the service are already available on mobile handset ‘app stores’ but Wattpad is now actively pursuing mobile operator partnerships.

The company says its launch on Bharti Airtel will be followed by similar announcements in the coming weeks.
