Intel, the computer chip giant, has announced a new eBook reader designed especially for the visually impaired and those with reading difficulties.

At roughly the size of paperback book, the Intel Reader (pictured above) looks radically different from standard readers on the market. The unit includes a high-resolution camera with the power of an Intel Atom processor, allowing users to point, shoot and listen to printed text.

Intel say when the reader is used together with the Intel® Portable Capture Station, large amounts of text, such as a chapter or an entire book, can be easily captured for reading later.
